I feel really special, because abby tagged me and I had no idea until today, in order to further procrastinate on school work, I'm filling it out!

What were you doing ten years ago?

Ten years ago I was 14. I was just getting confirmed in my church, and for me, at the time it was a huge deal. I was so excited to be considered and "adult" in the church, and my parents had a big party for me, that my friends and I played spin the bottle at. This is my first thought, the confirmation, not the spin the bottle game, because this weekend our church will be confirming the 8th graders again. My confirmation was amazing, because it was the last one my old pastor did, and he had really watched us grow up and was so connected to our class because we were going to be his last. He picked passages that he thought really said something about who we were, and mine was something about being happy and smiling. I don't remember it, I don't remember what book it was from, I wish I did, but I remember when he read it, I just started crying. I've always said that I want him to be the pastor that marries me when I grow up and fall in love, because he baptized me, I received first communion from him, he confirmed me, and always encouraged me to keep doing whatever it was that made me happy.

Also when I was 14, I had an amazing group of friends, who all moved when we finished the 8th grade. I moved, but within town, and if someone didn't move, they went to private school. So it was an exciting summer for me because that was the last time I got to spend a lot of time with those kids. Everyone went their separate ways in high school. The best part of the summer was getting to spend a week with my friend Kristen in Jersey and PA with her family. She had moved to Cherry Hill (I think) and they had a summer house in PA. Definitely one of my favorite trips.

5 things on my to do list today:
1. Assignment 2
2. take a shower
3. not call my favorite gym teacher-cop even though I want to
4. change my fish's water
5. get ready for tonight...looking extra cute and party like a rockstar

**P.S. Abby, I loved how your list was the NBC Thursday Line Up! how about that office season finale! OMG...Dwangela!

5 snacks I enjoy:
1. Blue Corn chips and guacamole (mmmmmm.....i could go for it right now.)
2. wasabi peas
3. ice cream...does it count as a snack?
4. olives. no joke. love em.
5. marshmallows. fat free!

5 things I would do if I were a billionaire:
1. move out of my parents house into my own house, somewhere that I could have a small backyard, and a place to grow my own herbs, start a family (wait, i need a hubby to do that!) and have a dog.
2. pay off credit cards and student loan debt.
3. donate money to a music program in need.
4. build or buy a studio to teach from. I would have to work.
5. not worry about the little things I do.

5 bad habits:
1. smoking when I'm drinking. I've really cut back a ton, now its maybe a cigarette a week. Nothing like the two years in college I spent living off of nicotine and caffeine. (but I did weigh a beautiful 101 lbs then!)
2. worrying. all i do is worry and over think everything.
3. texting. constantly, i should just pick up the damn phone.
4. facebook. its addicting, and I use it as my best method of procrastination from school work.
5. getting to work late. its not like terribly late, but if I'm supposed to be there at 7:45, I'm there by 8. i'll have a hard time working for someone who actually cares about stuff like that.

5 places I have lived:
1. 7 Pine Street
This was my first house that my parents bought in 1980, and started our family in. When I was in 8th grade, my dad's midlife crisis was to move. It was a beautiful old colonial, with a front porch, a decent back yard. We had a great block filled with kids. The rooms were tiny, but mine connected to the attic, so I could hide up there whenever I wanted. I was the only person who used the upstairs bathroom, and the living room was comfortable.

2. Ann Street
Where I live now. A little bigger, but no basement (I really miss the basement), but we live on the water. It is really nice, we have a small boat that my dad can put around in, and our backyard is gorgeous. My room is nice sized, tucked away in the corner of the house. This house isn't cozy though. The upstairs is so open and my parents don't have anything on the walls. We've lived here for 10 years, and our walls are bare. It is a boring plain house.

Those are the only two houses I've lived in. I never went away to school. I have only traveled on vacation. I've never even lived with a boyfriend, stayed and played house....but not lived.

3. Last summer I house sat, so I guess that counts. I loved that house because it was perfect for summer and they had an amazing vegetable garden....mmmm....grilled zucchini and squash marinated in EVOO and rosemary.
4. ?
5. ?

5 jobs I have had:
1. Babysitting, from the time I was 12 until I was 20, I loved babysitting, and used to have so much fun entertaining kids and playing with barbies and watching movies.

2. Blockbuster was a ton of fun for a long time, and then my hiring manager left and we had a few decent managers and then one who drove me out. There were alot of crazy nights in that place, especially when my friends would come in and help clean up so I could leave early to go hang out. I worked there for 3 years. It was a lot of fun, and I made a ton of good friends.

3. Ann Taylor Loft...overpriced clothing that I had to sell to snooty women from the town. The best part of this job was meeting Marion, the worst was everything else, including the people who thought my future was nothing because I wasn't planning on staying there.

4. The Gap and Bath and Body works, I'm lumping these two together because they both drained my bank account, made me hate retail and loathe my managers. I had fallen when I was working at B&BW and of course when I came in and said I couldn't work because half of my mouth was missing they gave me crap. Gap...I had bronchitis 3 times in 2 months and they told me i called out too often (once is too often) and that I needed a doctor's note. I gave them my doctor's note by vomiting in their trash can behind the counter and walking out. Never showed up for my last day there.

5. Trinity...nothing left to say at this point. I'm just done already.

I want to know more about:
1. Trace (I know you've done these before, so its not a big deal!)
2. Glitter's mom
3. tbnegrl if you still stop by! hope the lil ones are well.
4. allison, because she was one of the first blogs I stumbled upon!
5. "Kelly Ephron" because I love how she blogs about spending money. and she's an amazing writer and actress!

thanks Abby!

alrighty, commenting here for both posts. first of all, you have been busy! no wonder you haven't been blogging :) sorry about you and stephen, but i am sure you can still be friends and it sounds like you are doing great. i guess it's just never fun to have to break something off. but it's good that you at least got out from under the idea that "everything was your fault." i had a boyfriend like that once. i still kind of can't stand to think about him. so weird because when we broke up "how's it gonna be?" was a big hit and i thought it was so depressing and true to my life. of course, how it's gonna be is much better, or it was for me. so congrats on moving on!

and i did not get to see the office finale!!!! i am so bummed. we had baccalaureate that night. george put a tape in the vcr and forgot to set it! we are so getting tevo as soon as we have an income :) and we would watch it online, but our computer is old as the hills and we can't watch video on it. we are also so getting a new computer as soon as we have an income :)

sorry things with your family are still kind of yuck. i don't know if i have mentioned on my blog that i see a therapist once a week. my parents were/are abusive, sometimes physically, often times verbally, but almost always emotionally. only you know what is going on there, i really have no idea. but trust your instincts. i spent high school and college being on and off suicidal because of the way they manipulated me and blamed me for things. so again, this could be nothing like your situation, but for me, counseling has really really been helpful for me. it helps to have an objective, trained person validate what I am saying and give me some tools to work with people who are difficult- anything from friends who take advantage of me to parents who accuse me of disrespect and ingratitude if I don't declare them the best parents ever (again, just my experience). but at the very least, i totally get what you mean about not avoiding things. for me, it finally just became getting myself taken care of so I could be a grown up in a new family, because the old family was not interested in honesty and reconciliation. but your story is probably really different. i hope things get better soon.

i love the story of your confirmation and the Scriptures your pastor chose for you. i went to a t-tiny Christian school and our headmaster did something similar for each of us at graduation. that is really cool.

i also love the description of your first house. i have these very romanticized ideas of the whole northeastern new england area. i think it sounds so quaint and homey.

your retail experiences sound so horrible! between my sister and i, i think we have had a lot of similar experiences. i can't believe how wretched they are about people being sick! and the snotty clientele was so what my sister dealt with doing retail in Danbury,CT as I'm sure you can imagine. I hope you get some good opportunities for something new soon. you are right, you can come back to teaching. it's fun to try something new!

well, i'm so glad we're back in touch. i went ahead and put the link in my sidebar so i wouldn't lose you again. i always hate doing that without asking, so please let me know if you would rather me take it down. i wish i had some better way to stash my links, but if they're not right there, i have to search for them. well, this comment has taken me like 30 minutes! guess i better go see what george is up to! welcome back to blog world :) i've been enjoying all your music while i've been typing!

Thanks for the comments Abby!

yea..I have been busy, there will be a new and interesting post later tonight pertaining to the ridiculousness that was last night, enjoy it in advance, I'm plotting my outline and I'm truly excited.

Thanks for the congrats, I'm really glad I've been able to come to terms with everything.

The finale was amazing, I won't blog about it for a while. I'm gonna re-watch the season and do a whole post about my thoughts through the whole season. I know it seems a bit much, but I've wanted to do it for a while. I'm a big dork!

I'm excited about your new computer, I remember when I first started blogging and you talked about how you would be typing but saw only 4 lines ago! Has the hubby gotten a placement yet?

Thank you for sharing your story with me, it means a lot. I had the suicidal thoughts when I was in high school too, but it was because of a lot of different things that were going on in my life. I think me seeing a therapist would be a great thing, but right now I can't afford to and my insurance only covers about 6 sessions in a year's time period or something. If I get the job I'm praying and hoping for, I should be able to move to Queens and out of my parent's house which I think would be a HUGE help. I think that I could get along better with my family if I didn't live with them. And I shouldn't say my family, its just my mom who means well I think, but her actions are not really in line with her emotions, same with her words. The words are what makes it really difficult (ex. I have heard the story of me and Stephen breaking up every day for the past month and a half, but mostly the part where I had asked him if he saw me as part of his life in the future and he said no, and she likes to remind me of that constantly, it doesn't upset me, but the way she says it makes me feel like i'm not worthy of him, and she doesn't like him. its weird)

My aunt and uncle have the same style house as my first house, but they live in PA and when I go there its just such a cozy at home feeling I get. The colors of the old house were so much warmer than the white and beige that is this one. My room however is a dark purple carpet and my walls are covered in pictures, my diploma and honors, my brother's artwork, and of course pictures of my friends. My room is probably the coziest in the house.

Retail is a funny game and I'm not planning on playing it again ever. My girl friends have explicit instructions to keep me from working in retail ever again!

Please put me in your sidebar! I'm excited that I can be there. I put you in mine without asking, I hope that's ok, but the same here, if its not in front of me, I lose it. I have a couple of blogs saved in my favorites in the web browser, but I always forget about those ones.

I'm glad I'm back too. I forgot how therapeutic blogging can be. You get to say everything and anything you want and no one is going to sit here and tell you you shouldn't say those things. Plus the bloggers I have become friendly with, such as yourself, are all so encouraging and sweet.

Ok, well I need to go back to doing my homework. So much to get done, and then attempt to enjoy the weather! Talk to you soon!
